Pink Moon Cupcakes OK, I know I talk a lot about cupcakes, and I previously listed another bakery on here. However, after having 2 trips to that bakery with staaaale cupcakes, I had to find a new bakery to steal my heart. That would be Pink Moon in Powell. First of all, it is set in an adorable house with a "Chocolate Emporium" in the front room. The cupcake room comes next, with glass pedestals full of the daily cupcakes. And when they are gone, they are gone! My favorite feature of Pink Moon is that they rotate the flavors on a daily basis, rather than keeping the same flavors for a month. My suggestions: German Chocolate and Buckeye!
Sweet Scetti Bakery After trying their Chocolate Pretzel cookies at the local Farmers Markets, I am in love. I have been with others when they have eaten the Chocolate Chip, Apple Pie, Trail Mix, and Honey Cherry Pecan, and they were all impressed! Check out Mary and her family in Clintonville on Saturdays (through July, then in October), in UA, or visit her website to arrange for cakes and cookies any time.
Lottie Da Childrens Boutique Now that the family has grown and I am buying for a little girl (my dream come true!), I have visited this adorable store many times. I like Larkyn's clothes to stand out and I love local shopping, so this place is perfect. The feel of the store is anything but big-box, the decor reminds me of our nursery, and the products are original and well-made. Besides clothing, owner Amy also has beautiful custom bedding, diaper bags, accessories, books, and decor. If you can't make it to Clintonville or live outside the area, you can order from her website.
Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Mmmm, I know I wrote a post about another frozen yogurt place but this is the only one that belongs on my Favorite Places page! It is less than a mile from my house in Kingsdale Shopping Center, which makes it even better. The set-up is cheerful and includes about a dozen daily flavors and toppings. You can test any of the flavors, and will want to, because they are all made with FRESH ingredients (the reason why I like this place the best!) My favorite combos have been: pineapple, coconut, and strawberry/banana; or chocolate, cheesecake, and peanut butter chocolate. The toppings range from fresh fruit to cereal, brownie bits, cocoa almonds (my favorite!) to poundcake bites. You pay by volume, so you have to be careful here:o)
Puptown Lounge in Upper Arlington
This is where Sebastian went to get out some energy and give my poor house a rest. It is $20 for the day, and is $90 if you buy a 5 day pass. It is conveniently on my way to work on Riverside, and is very easy to just run in and drop him off. The dogs are NOT in cages at any point and they can run in the fenced in yard when it's potty time.
Sew to Speak Fabrics
Although I love a good sale, going in JoAnn's makes me grumpy. Fabric should be in a pretty place and I don't want to see Steelers fabric next to beautifully striped upholstery fabric! Sorry, I just don't. So, fed up with trying to find the "perfect" fabrics online, I found this little gem in Clintonville. I wanted everything...and no, I don't know how to sew, really. But I will learn so that I can use their fabrics!
