Dogs + Xylitol do NOT mix. I came home from a relaxing yoga class to find a decimated lunchbox with the remnants of a sugar-free gum package. Sebastian had eaten almost an entire pack. I had *heard* that Xylitol is "bad" for dogs, so I thought I would check online real quick. Well, that sent me into a panic so I called MedVet. They told me to put him in the car and get there ASAP as it is LETHAL!!! As of now, he is OK and is stable at MedVet overnight. Luckily, Orbit has less Xylitol than all the other gums and I caught it in time. Apparently most people wait to see if the dog has problems....by then, it has already posioned their liver and they start having diabetic seizures. This is one time I am happy that I am a worrier!
